The grants in this initial grantmaking phase are earmarked for Cambridge nonprofits with either 501(c)(3) status or a fiscal sponsor. Applicants must be located in Cambridge, MA and serve the Cambridge, MA community.
Primary mission must be to promote access, excellence, diversity, or education through arts and culture. Be tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or apply through a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor and be in good standing with the Secretary of the Commonwealth. Must be located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Must describe any funds the arts organization has previously received in COVID-19 relief funding from the City, including other grants from the Mayor’s Disaster Relief Fund or CARES Act. Media arts organization applicants such as community tv stations shall have over 50% of programming time for arts and culture and/or the core business is related to youth programming or workforce development in arts and culture. If you are applying as an emerging organization: Be an arts organization engaged in planning / running arts programming and events in response to local needs or community issues. If you are applying as an established organization: Be an arts organization that has provided public arts or cultural programming for both 2018 & 2019 in the City. Offer public cultural programming in and have a history of year-round operations in the City. The deadline for the fall cycle is October 1 (by 5:00PM). In the event that deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, proposals are due by 5:00PM the next business day. The deadline for the spring cycle is February 1 (by 5:00PM). In the event that deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, proposals are due by 5:00PM the next business day.
All grant programs require a final report at the conclusion of the grant period. The report form is available on the grant dashboard, and asks grantees to describe the use of the funds in relation to the outcomes you stated in the grant proposal. High quality reports share progress, lessons, and constituent stories, if possible. A grant report must be received before further funding will be considered.

Yes, your organization can serve many communities, but supported programs must serve Cambridge residents.
Applicants with budgets over $500,000 are required to submit an audit. Organization’s whose budgets are under $500,000 may submit a financial statement that is either reviewed or audited by an independent certified public accountant (CPA).
Applicants who are not 501(c)(3) organizations can apply for funding if they operate under the fiscal sponsorship of a tax-exempt nonprofit, that serves the people of Cambridge. The application must provide evidence of fiscal sponsorship.
No. All grants through the Community Fund are one year grants only.
