Dear community members,
Today is Thanksgiving, and like you, I’m reflecting on what I’m grateful for. Community is at the top of my list, and that includes all of you.
We’re facing a time of great change in our country and our city. While we don’t know the specifics, we are gearing up to deal with issues that we anticipate will affect our friends and neighbors, such as immigrants, vulnerable populations, and those struggling to meet basic needs. Our work at the hyper-local level is the source of our power. Regardless of the larger forces at play, we can make a positive impact on our community.
As the foundation of and for all of Cambridge, we see good happen through collective action, through donors addressing urgent needs, through neighbors helping neighbors, and through the tireless work of our heroic nonprofits and city partners.
Today, as I think about the future, there are things of which I’m certain. As your community foundation:
- We will fiercely uphold our core values: the right to dignity, equity and justice, collaboration, creativity and imagination.
- We will never waver in our commitment to supporting the most vulnerable in our community.
- We will pull on every resource we have to ensure access to economic mobility for all residents.
- We will stand up for the things we believe in and support our community in good times and bad.
Now more than ever we need community and connections with one another. So, let’s continue to do what we can to make our community stronger. Let’s be good to one another. Let’s be agents of the kind of change that we want to see in our country and our world, right here in the city we all love.
Warmly,
Geeta Pradhan and the entire CCF team
