Have you wondered about the new building cropping up at the corner of Rindge Ave and Alewife Brook Parkway? It’s the Economic Mobility Hub at Rindge Commons developed by our nonprofit partner Just A Start that will open later this year with a state-of-the-art education and job training center, affordable housing, childcare and services available to the entire neighborhood.

CCF is one of the hub’s supporters. We made a $150,000 commitment over five years to support the project from construction through programming expansion. And as we take on economic mobility, along with social cohesion as a pillar of our new strategic plan, we will be making additional, targeted investments to support the movement of families from crisis to stability to mobility.

During a hard-hat tour, we saw what will become brand-new labs and classrooms for Just A Start’s tuition-free, workforce development programs that open careers in technology and life sciences. These spaces will double the number of students in their current programs and enable Just A Start to add new, accelerated career training opportunities.

“Together with our partners, we’re leading the way in creating equitable communities in Cambridge so that everyone can secure a solid economic foundation,” said Carl Nagy-Koechlin, Just A Start’s executive director.

We’re incredibly grateful for partners like Just A Start, who are doing the work to support our neighbors as they grow and thrive. We know our community will reap the benefits of affordable housing, childcare support, and pathways to financial stability that this incredible new facility will provide.
