Art has the power to bring people together, spark dialogue, and create belonging. That’s why we’re excited to announce four new grants totaling nearly $30,000 through our Arrow Street Arts Fund, supporting local artists who make Cambridge’s cultural landscape more vibrant and inclusive. Two of the grantees, Midday Movement Series and Jessica Roseman Dance, are recipients for a second year in a row.
These grants help address a critical need in our arts ecosystem: access to affordable performance space. Through our partnership with Arrow Street Arts, we’re ensuring diverse voices have a stage in the heart of Harvard Square.
Meet our Fall 2024 grantees:
Omayra Amaya Flamenco Dance Company brings the rich traditions of flamenco to Cambridge through performances and free community workshops. Their week-long program celebrates the multicultural roots of this art form, connecting residents to Romani, Andalusian, Arabic, and Sephardic Jewish traditions.
Jessica Roseman Dance creates spaces for healing and connection through “Nourish: Your Portal,” an interactive performance series designed to empower Black mothers through movement and storytelling. *
New England Jazz Collaborative revitalizes the local jazz scene with their performance series, offering a platform for local artists while making live jazz more accessible to diverse Cambridge audiences.
Midday Movement Series supports artistic innovation through “Rough Drafts,” providing emerging artists space to develop experimental works and connect with the community through informal showcases. *
Together, these artists strengthen social cohesion in Cambridge by creating spaces where everyone can gather, share experiences, and feel at home. To date, the Arrow Street Arts Fund has invested over $90,000 in 15 local performing arts organizations, building bridges through art that uplifts all.
